The Weekend provides a rare opportunity for visitors to chat with the artists in their studios and view works in progress, pieces that didn't quite make it, and, of course, successful end results. Also, where possible, they may witness the creation of a new work. You are invited to experience the people, space, making process and ideas that unfold within the private studios of artists in and around Birregurra.
Maureen studied at the Victorian College of the Arts after many years working in Film, TV, Advertising and Photography. She paints (including portraiture), does pottery and sculpts with clay. Painting and decorating old furniture is also a passion.
Maureen has exhibited in many Melbourne group shows through pottery and painting.
Her work is inspired by her family, who came from Egypt, giving her a love of the exotic and a fascination with ancient history.
Maureen considers her work a success if it can give someone a moment of pleasure.
She loves colour and varying themes and this year's Open Studio sees her exhibiting at Farm Foods Provedore, developing the theme of 'High Tea'.
