What an enlightening day. After a relaxing train ride to Melb. with Jane Dennis, Susie Coulson, Anna Hoederman and myself, we started with our obligatory caffeine at our favourite French Chocolatier shop, and then on to the NGV. The 2 Superstars of Contemporary Art, Andy Warhol and Ai Wei Wei, expressed their feelings and beliefs through thought provoking images and sculptural installations. We all agreed, A MUST SEE! . We then made our way over to the Botanical Gardens for lunch at Jardin Tan, where we were spoiled with Shannon Bennet's artistry in food. Delicious Vietnamese/Asian fusion food. One more stop took us to the Shrine, here a war artist Fred Ransome Smith was exhibiting a collection of his work in pencil and water colour, depicting his time as a POW over 3 years. It gave us the time for deep reflection on the horrors of war. (this exhibition has now closed) For those who want to visit The NGV, the exhibition is on till 24th. April. Definitely worth the exp
