Local Artists prepare for the Arts Expo @ The Masonic

A big thank you to the Lock the Gate campaigners
for letting us repurpose their, now defunct, yellow triangles

Don't be offended if your local artist friends decline any invitations that take them away from their studios at the moment. Birregurra's Festival is just a week or so away, so they are all busy preparing their showcase for the Arts Expo @ The Masonic.

This year's theme is Artists at Work, demonstrating and talking about their art, as they move a small part of their studio into the Masonic Hall for the weekend. In an effort to bring you their very best, artists are burning the midnight oil and rehearsals are held all over the town.

Participating artists include Ron Eichler, who will unveil his 'shoe sculpture' @ The Masonic.
Linnet Hunter, who is busy preparing some fun ways for everyone to join in on word play and poem making.
Chris West and Pam Fyfe will amaze us with their individual use of fibre.
Rob Mills' pottery wheel will be spinning.
Monica Provan and Jan Verouden will make glass art crystal clear and
Veronica Phillips will weave her willow magic.
There will be a guitar builder making guitars out of cigar boxes, a sand stone carver, a silver smith, a Kokedama maker and an exhibition of Colac Camera Club's finest.

But wait - there's more! This year we introduce the Word & Song UnPlugged stage, a program of musicians and poets, which you'll find on the official festival program and map handed out on the day.

It includes local favourites Keith Maxwell, a ukulele size Ukulele Kollective, and the premiere of Birregurra's own Zither Ensemble. Ensemble members are Jane Dennis, Barb Little, Anne Brandscheid, Helen Maxwell, Ian & Angie Smales, Gaye & John Wedford and Jenny Stephens.

Make sure you include a visit to the Masonic Hall during the festival.
