ABOUT THIS WAY NORTH

This Way North are an amazing band to watch and  listen to - recently taking out Best Regional / Outer Suburban Act in 2018 at The Age Music Victoria Awards - and they are on a steady incline. It’s easy to forget they are just a two-piece band. Drummer/vocalist Cat Leahy and guitarist/vocalist Leisha Jungalwalla create an explosive energy and expansive sound that translates effortlessly from the studio to the stage. The girls are coming back to Birre after headlining Birre Fest last year and having just finished a tour of Canad…

Cookin' on 3 Burners at Birregurra Hall - the house was packed and the joint was jumping!

Image
Birregurra Hall's dancefloor was heaving on Saturday night for the first live music show since the hall's completion and the installation of the permenant sound system and acoustics. It was a full house and the band were on fire! After fabulous vintage rock n roll and soul tunes from guest DJ Lady Blades, Australia's funk-soul darlings hit the stage with two full dancefloor sets featuring a very heavily pregnant but energetic and super sexy Stella Angelico. Her sumptuous gravelly soul vocals seeped deep into the 150 audience's bones as the band's sublime beats, guitar and hammond organ squeals had us jumping up and down with glee - literally. It was like being transported back to the 60s. It was truly a night to remember, and the perfect way to see the new hall and all it's upgrades in action. You could even hear each other talk while the band was at volume, such are the quality of the acoustics and sound.

The night was such a community effort! My many thanks…

Meryl Leppard has fallen in love again! At her age!! A laugh out loud show filled with storytelling and song.

Image
We're very excited to be supporting the fabulous Meryl Leppard with her upcoming show, The Thief. Grab your tickets NOW at COPACC and join us for a rollicking night of storytelling and song.

Leppard, an acclaimed songwriter for the Off Broadway hit, Cougar the Musical, is a weaver of stories. She performs magic at the piano, drawing us into her world with a voice that is arresting, haunting and utterly authentic. Meryl’s solo shows cross genres. They are a sophisticated hybrid-cabaret of music, humour and performance poetry. Stylistically, her music ranges from jazz-like idiom, through blues and adult pop, to the sweet sounds of country cross-over.

Grab the girls and come along for a night of hilarious fun with Meryl Leppard and The Thief.
