Cookin' on 3 Burners at Birregurra Hall - the house was packed and the joint was jumping!
Birregurra Hall's dancefloor was heaving on Saturday night for the first live music show since the hall's completion and the installation of the permenant sound system and acoustics. It was a full house and the band were on fire!
After fabulous vintage rock n roll and soul tunes from guest DJ Lady Blades, Australia's funk-soul darlings hit the stage with two full dancefloor sets featuring a very heavily pregnant but energetic and super sexy Stella Angelico. Her sumptuous gravelly soul vocals seeped deep into the 150 audience's bones as the band's sublime beats, guitar and hammond organ squeals had us jumping up and down with glee - literally. It was like being transported back to the 60s. It was truly a night to remember, and the perfect way to see the new hall and all it's upgrades in action. You could even hear each other talk while the band was at volume, such are the quality of the acoustics and sound. The night was such a community effort! My many thanks to all those who chipped in and supported. For the artists, they feelt so welcomed and can't wait to come back - enjoying a communal artist and crew dinner of lasagna, salad and sweets before the show provided by Anna Hoedeman, Catriona Holyoake and Steve Dawson. Accommodation was provided by Tom Dennis at Tarndie (aka - the after party!). A pre-show dinner for ticket holders was held at Yield Restaurant. Gorgeous flowers provided from Vicki Jeffrey. Door by Anne Wood. Merch run by the fabulous Bonnie House. Sound and lights from Birre General Store's Zach Plier and super clean up help and general moral support for Fee from Deb McIntyre and Steve Dawson.
The show was bought to town by Birregurra Community Arts Group and local promoter Fee Brandscheid of Common Thread Arts. All shows are not for profit and any funds made return to community projects and events.
The next BCAG Birregurra Hall show will be on Saturday 26th October with This Way North and Tuck Shop Ladies with their "It's A Long Way To The Shop" Tour. Guest support from Rach Brennan and the Pines. Ticket presale $25 or $28 at the door.
